What are Digital X-Ray and Fluoroscopy?
An X-ray (or radiographic) image is produced by sending a small amount of radiation through the body. An X-ray can be used to image bones, as well as organs and other tissues within the body.
Fluoroscopy studies use X-rays to capture "real time" images of an organ while it is functioning. It is often used to observe the digestive tract or to guide injections. The small amount of risk associated with the use of radiation is greatly outweighed by the information x-rays provide relating to the patient's condition.
Our new digital system delivers excellent spatial and contrast resolution images that can be digitally enhanced for maximum diagnostic accuracy. Our staff, technologists and doctors are specially trained in performing and interpreting digital radiography and fluoroscopy studies, and will accommodate STAT studies and rapid report delivery when needed.
For most X-rays: No special preparation is required.
